What Is The Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie
The Medical Medium Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie is a powerful blend that helps to support heavy metal removal from the central nervous system.
We are all exposed to heavy metals as a result of modern living. These toxic metals have been with us practically our whole lives and accumulated in virtually every body system.
According to the Medical Medium, the longer the metals are in our body, the more damage they do and the harder it is to remove them.
The toxic metals accumulate in different parts of our organs, and especially our brain and liver.
The smoothie contains specific ingredients designed to extract the metals that have burrowed deep inside our tissues.
Our Exposure To Heavy Metals
Living in the modern world exposes us to toxic heavy metals on a daily basis, with things such as metal cookware, aluminum cans and old paint found in many homes causing toxic heavy metal exposure.
In his book Cleanse To Heal, Anthony William explains various ways we are unintentionally exposed to heavy metals, including: flouride treatments, aluminium food packaging, metal amalgam dental fillings, tap water, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, herbicides…and the list goes on.
The result is that the excessive levels of toxic heavy metals can have a detrimental effect on our immune system, making us more susceptible to various illnesses.
Key Ingredients and Equipment
The heavy metal detox smoothie works by extracting metals from hard to reach places.
The five main ingredients include wild blueberries, spirulina, barley grass juice powder, atlantic dulse and fresh cilantro (also known as coriander).
You can find the ingredients at your supermarket, or buy online or at health food stores.
You will also need a high speed blender.
Try to have all the ingredients on hand, however if you don’t, it is still ok to make the smoothie and just leave out what you don’t have.
1. Wild Blueberries
Sourcing wild blueberries may be challenging, depending on where you live.
The Medical Medium specifies that the wild blueberries should be used rather than cultivated blueberries.
I live in Australia, and while it is easy to find frozen traditional blueberries, it’s another story for frozen wild blueberries.
You can check the freezer section of your local supermarket. Or you can also use wild blueberry powder, which is what I use.
I actually prefer it as it makes my smoothie less bulky.
I have found a really great website here in Australia called PURESIA that stocks the ingredients for some of the Medical Medium protocols. And if you buy in bulk, you save. This business is also committed to sustainability by consciously sourcing their products, using recyclable glass bottles, biodegradable and compostable pouches and compostable shipping labels and sticky tape.
2. Spirulina
Spirulina powder is made from blue-green algae and helps draw out heavy metals
It helps to purify the blood, remove heavy metals from the the brain, central nervous system and liver.
3. Barley Grass Juice Powder
Barley Grass has been utilized as an ancient superfood for centuries. It is abundant in nutrients and contains 20 amino acids (8 of which the body can’t make itself).
The correct ingredient here is barley grass juice powder, not barley grass powder.
I buy my barley grass juice powder online as I haven’t found it onstore.
4. Atlantic Dulse
Atlantic Dulse comes in flakes and powder form, and is a seaweed that grows in the North Atlantic.
It helps remove metals by binding to them , allowing them to be eliminated through the digestive tract.
I buy my Atlantic Dulse Flakes online, as I save money when buying in bulk.
Tip – I add it to the blender as one of the first ingredients to ensure the flakes break down, otherwise I end up with random flakes throughout the smoothie.
5. Fresh Cilantro or Coriander
Cilantro (called Coriander in Australia) extracts metals from hard to reach places.
Use organic if available. Should be easily sourced from your supermarket or fruit and vegetable grocer.
Although this sounds like an odd ingredient o add to a smoothie, the flavor is not too intense and actually complements the other ingredients.
The remaining ingredients are more for taste and are easily found in supermarkets or your fresh food grocer: orange (I juice 1 orange), bananas (I use one banana, not two as in the official recipe) and coconut water, fresh-squeezed orange juice or water (I use water).
Conclusion
The heavy metal detox smoothie recipe is a simple, no-fuss way to reduce heavy metal levels in the body.
Also, thanks to its easy preparation, it can fit into any daily routine – even those with a busy schedule.
The hardest part about it is actually finding some of the ingredients.
I recommend reading more from Anthony William about the effects of heavy metals in our systems and then deciding for yourself whether this is something you want to try.
