It’s allowed me to drop deeper into my inner guidance and live with more clarity and purpose. The more I’ve learned to trust my intuition, the more I’ve found myself moving toward the life I truly want to create—one that feels expansive, authentic, and aligned with who I am at my core.
Even though the actual moving towards it can be frought with discomfort and insecurity.
One of the most profound experiences I had with this was when I left a job that was considered safe and stable. So many people I knew had worked for the same organization for years, even decades, because it was comfortable. But I hated it. I felt stifled, drained, and completely out of alignment with who I wanted to be.
An opportunity came to leave—and I took it. I thought I would feel free, that the world would open up to me the moment I walked away. But then reality set in. I had just separated from my long-term partner and now, suddenly, I was an unemployed single mum. The safety net I had always relied on was gone, and I was plunged into a hole of despair.
In that fear and uncertainty, my instinct took over. I did everything I could to try to get that job back—taking desperate actions that felt chaotic and frantic. It was pure survival mode.
And it took a long time before I could see that even though I was struggling, leaving that job was one of the smartest decisions I ever made. It was the beginning of a journey I’m still on—learning about myself from what makes me uncomfortable, from the things that challenge me, and from the parts of myself that rise to meet those challenges.
Looking back, I can see so clearly now that it was my intuition guiding me away from a life that felt empty and toward something far more aligned.
But my instinct—that primal urge to find safety and certainty—kicked in hard when things became difficult. Understanding this difference has been so empowering for me, and it’s something I’ve continued to explore and strengthen over the years.
